Bauchi: Bala tasks religious bodies on youth training for self-reliance

 

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has sought for the support of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in the training of youth of adolescent age on self-discipline and self-reliance in the effort to tackle immoral behaviour in society.

Speaking at the closing of the 80th edition of the  National Islamic Vacation Course held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, the governor expressed concern that the society is afflicted with a number of challenges spreading to every aspect of life. 

Represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, Governor Bala applauded the leadership of MSSN for organising the week long intensive program in which young Muslim adolescent boys and girls were trained on both moral and qualitative education.

He also commended the effort of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria for the programme and complimenting government’s effort in ensuring an egalitarian society, stressing the need for other sister religious organisations to emulate the MSSN for a better society.

The governor said as security of lives and property of the citizens is one of the major priorities of his administration, noting that managing security of lives and property always requires moral and religious approach to inculcate in the youth.

In a keynote address, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar said the theme of the course which is “The Position of Muslims in National Politics and Economy: Where we are and where we ought to be,” is timely and tasked the participants to make good use of the knowledge acquired for the promotion of Islamic education which will go a long way towards addressing the numerous challenges facing the country.

The MSSN national amir, Malam Shehu Usman Abubakar, noted that Muslim societies and youth had a vital role to play in national politics and the economy, hence the need for the youth to be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.
