Christmas: NCPC boss Pam felicitates Christians, condemns Plateau killings

The executive secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, has noted that Christmas “is a rare gift to mankind” and urged simplicity, love and gratitude

This was contained in his yuletide message to Christians at this year’s Christmas, according to a press statement issued by the Commission’s head of media and public relations, Celestine Toruka.

It indicated that Rev. Pam enjoined Christians to “see Christmas as an opportunity to reach out to the needy,” stressing that “the birth of Christ signifies a new hope and grace on mankind.”

“Christ is an epitome of love and humility and as such his followers should emulate his lifestyle. Christians should use this year’s Christmas to pray for our leaders in positions of authority that God should imbue them with the wisdom and knowledge they need to steer the ship of leadership to higher heights,” he said.

He equally enjoined Christians to always be their brothers’ keepers by maintaining peace and order in their respective communities.

He further tasked Christians to continue to have faith in the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the government.

In a related development, the NCPC boss condemned “in unmistaken terms” the killing of unsuspecting indigenes of Plateau state in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi local government areas of the state on the eve of Christmas.

He said the attack on the people of Plateau state was unfortunate and unacceptable, warning that the perpetrators of the crime should not take the “calmness and hospitable gestures of the good people of Plateau state for granted.”

Rev. Pam called on the security agencies to fish out the miscreants and advised the people not to lose faith in God “because of the fragile security situation in the state.”

“God will certainly vindicate them and enthrone permanent peace in the Plateau,” he said, and commiserated with the families of those that lost their beloved ones in the attack.
