APC chieftain hails Ganduje’s inclusion of youth in governance

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano Aliyu Harazimi Rano has commended Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for adopting a coherent policy of including youth in the act of governance and leadership, adding that it was a paradigm shift effected to bring change.

Speaking to newsmen in Kano Sunday, Rano described the appointment of a 33-year old Dr. Yusuf Jibril JY  a medical doctor,  as a great water shed in the history of the present democratic dispensation and an undisputed demonstration of the governor’s earlier promise to accord priority to the inclusion of youth in  leadership.

According to him, the time has come for prominent leaders in respective position of authority like states governors to adopt such a measure, pointing out that excluding the youth in governance and leadership would only paint a bad picture for the nascent democratic system in the country.

He however stated that injecting new blood in the system would ultimately ginger the resolve and confidence of the most ambitious youth to crave for leadership adding that including them would be the best way of achieving a  spectacular result.

He said “governor Ganduje has amply demonstrated his genuine knowledge of statecraft; he  has indeed set the pace for his fellow governors to emulate.

Appointing the 33 year old Yusuf  as commissioner is a great feat  worthy of reverence. It had happened in the 1960s during the late Audu Bako when the renowned Kano business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Dantata was appointed commissioner at his youthful age.

“We have tested JY’s ingenuity and acumen as a brilliant medical practitioner worth his name. Nobody has ever doubted his capacity to live up to his billing. We want people in their teens to be  tested in every sphere of human interest. To me, the governor has taken a right decision at the right time”, he affirmed.

“Like Oliver twist, we are still asking for more from the governor on the inclusion of youth in every part of decision-making. We have to appreciate the fact that with youth at the higher rung of leadership, the Augean Stable would be cleaned, this is the crux of the matter”, he stressed.
