Zamfara misrepresented in NASS from 1999 to date – Jabaka

Chairman, Zamfara State Zakkak and Endowment Board, Prof. Kabiru Umar Jabaka, has stated that since the beginning of democracy in 1999 to date, Zamfara state has been misrepresented and under-represented in both the Senate and House of Representatives.

Prof Jabaka who disclosed this Tuesday in an interview in Gusau, said the state is lacking some basic necessities of living that could have direct bearing on the people.

According to him, this was due to the failure of those who represented the state at the two chambers of the National Assembly, describing their effort as poor representation.

“Essentially if you are elected as a lawmaker to represent your people, you are expected to fully represent them both socially and economically but unfortunately, our people are under-represented and mis-represented by those we elected at National levels since 1999 to date”, Jabaka stated.

On his political ambition come 2023, Prof. Kabiru Umar Jabaka stated that he would contest for the senate to represent Zamfara Central under the platform of the Peoples Dimocratic Party (PDP).

He said that considering clamour by some youth and other civil society organisations in the state for him to contest, he had opted to contest in response to their call.

“If time comes, God willing, I will be going for the Senate in order to correct such misrepresentation and under-representation suffered by our people for over two decades in the Senate”. Prof. Jabaka hinted.

On the achievement recorded by the Zamfara State Zakkak and Endowment Board under his Chairmanship, Prof. Jabaka explained that every month, the board has been alleviate the suffering of over 300 destitutes, in the area of small scale business, healthcare delivery, food items, cash transfer, to mention but a few.

He explained that the board had concluded all arrangements to upgrade all clinics with antenatal care facilities for the less privileged to reduce hardship among the people.
