Why I dumped PDP – Ebonyi lawmaker

A lawmaker Representing Abakaliki North Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon Victor Nwoke, has said that the crisis in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) forced him to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hon. Nwoke noted that the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike hijacked the party at the National level while the state have two party chairmen.

Nwoke disclosed this during an interview with Blueprint in Abakaliki.

He emphasized that as a stakeholder in PDP, he had tried to broker peace within the factions but to no avail.

And noted that lack of peaceful atmosphere in the party was affecting his work as a legislature.

The Lawmaker defected to APC with his supporters.

He said, “PDP has two chairmen in Ebonyi while the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike has hijacked it at the national level.

“There is a crises in PDP both in the state and national. As you can see, the PDP national is owned by the FCT Minister. So, there is a problem. Even the case they were asked to withdraw from court is still there in the court and the state, we have two chairmen; we have Augustine Nwazunku and Onyema Nwele.

“There is crisis everywhere in the party which is why I decided to go to where there is peace so that I can provide democracy dividends to the people I am representing.

“Note, the provision of the Nigeria constitution as amended stipulates that if the party that gives you a ticket is in crisis, you can join another party that has peace”, he stated.

Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the state APC Chairman who received the Lawmaker into the party , assured him of a level playing ground, stressing that APC in the state aims to better the lives of the people and provide development.
