Youth teams will be reactivated, new Abia Warriors acting chairman assures

The acting Chairman of Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia Mr Innocent Oweh has assured the technical crews of both the youth and academy cadre of his determination to reactivate the teams and make them more vibrant.

The chairman gave the assurance on Tuesday while addressing the technical crew and backroom staff of the teams.

The meeting was held at the club’s secretariat in Umuahia, Abia state capital.

The Chairman said the Abia Warriors youth team which was a driving force in the sustainability of the team since it gained promotion to the premiership in 2014, later went moribund and was only existing in names.

“Our youth programmes was a force that produced the likes of Chisom Chikatara, Shedrack Asiegbu, Goodluck Ozioma among others, but later went moribund because of the various factors that became an impediment for the continual actualisation of dreams,” he said.

He however, revealed that his intention of ensuring that the teams bounce back to reckoning, is unwavering.

He said the teams will participate in both the NLO division 1 league next season, and the next NPFL Laliga U15 tourney effectively.

He appreciated the coaches for remaining committed to the development of youths in the state, saying that history will always remember them.

He advised them to comb the nooks and crannies of the state to identify good players, and give them a platform to exhibit their talents.

He remained optimistic that if properly harnessed, such players would turn out to make the country proud in future.

He promised to treat all their submissions with dispatch.

The Chairman further revealed that the teams would commence their programmes immediately the senior team resume in the first week of July.
