Yobe: NBTT translates New Testament Bible in karai-karai


The Karai-Karai Bible Language Association (KKBLA) in collaboration with Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT) Saturday launched 1024,000 copy of translated Karai-Karai New testament Bible in Potiskum Local Governent Area of Yobe state.

The launching and dedication ceremony of the new translated karai-karai Bible took place at ECWA Church No.1 in Potiskum town.

In her remarks at the event, the executive-director NBTT, Mrs Patience M Toma, congratulated the karai karai people of Yobe state for the this great achievement.
She said the dedication of the karai karai New Testament Bible is very important and historic event for both the development of mother tongue and the Christian faith.

Represented by Mrs. Oluleye Ebalu Josephine, Mrs Toma said the translation will help the Karai-Karai group to know and serve God better.

“Now that the karai karai people have the scripture in their heart language,it is the desire of NBTT,to see that the New Testament is put into use before go into the Old Testament Translation,” she said.

Earlier speaking, the Chairman, Karai-Karai Bible Language Association (KKBLA), Mr.Yusuf Musa, said the desire and the need to translate the New Testament Bible into Karai-Karai language was made to NBTT in Jos on 2nd August,1983.

He stated that the work on the Karai-Karai New Testament Bible begun on 1 February,2007 at a temporary facility of former Albishir Bookshop Potiskum.
However, after a while the project moved to its permanent site in ECWA church 1, in Potiskum town of the state.

“By the grace of God,the translation work on the Karai-Karai New Testament Bible come to the completion date 2021 and finally published by an organisation from the Republic of South Korea,” he said.

The Chief launcher, professor Dauda Bitrus Bawa, dedicated the New Karai-Karai translation Bible for use in all churches for the benefit of all.
