Why we must tackle youth unemployment – Monarch

The chief of Dafa chiefdom and member of traditional council of chiefs, Kwali area council,  Abuja-FCT,  Alhaji Abdullahi Kajiya, has called on government at all levels to develop ways and means that will alleviate the suffering of the youths in the country, saying that  the growing unemployment in Nigeria should not be treated with levity.

 He made this assertion while speaking to Blueprint during security meeting with stakeholders in Dafa, Kwali Abuja Wednesday 15, April 2020.

He said job creation plays an integral role in economic  growth of a nation.

The traditional ruler stressed that noting the harsh economic realities were responsible for the present wave of unemployment saying, it was heart-breaking to see unemployed youths begging for arms.

He described youths as vital source of development, adding that it was essential to inculcate in them the fear of God, positive values of leadership and the spirit of patriotism.

He praised Nigeria youths for demonstrating unalloyed patriotism in many fields of human endeavours, nothing that   Nigeria should learn from advance nations like China, Japan etc; on how we can impact knowledge of technological development to solve the problem of youths unemployment in Nigeria.

The monarch called on the youths in the country to shun attempts by people who will instigate them to perpetuate violence in the country rather, they should seek to promote peace.

He called on President Muhammudu Buhari led administration to tackle the issue of unemployment, corruption, and insecurity headlong as Nigerians are yearning for breath of fresh air.

He further maintained that, Nigeria has since been faced with the problems of ethnic rivalries, insecurity of lives and properties, Boko-Haram insurgents, unemployment among others.

He remarked that, for people to have confident on the government, the federal, state and local governments should begin to look into the matter at hand and find lasting solutions to make Nigeria a better place to live.

The monarch charged chief executives of local councils to focus on infrastructural development and more attention should also be made on opening of feeder roads and building of culverts, health care services and some of the delineated structures in the health clinics should be renovated and equipped.

“Drainage of portable drinking water and good sanitation should be our top priority for faster growth of our rural communities economically,” he said.
