We want Nwabali back for Angola AFCON 2023 quarter-final showdown — Peseiro

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro hopes goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali will be available for his team’s quarter-final clash with Angola.

Nwabali was forced out of a Round of 16 clash against Cameroon Saturday night after he hurt his knee as he collided with a Cameroon player for an aerial ball inside his box late in the second half.

The 27-year-old Chippa United, who has posted three straight clean sheets at the AFCON, had to be stretchered off the pitch.
“We will assess the state of Nwabali’s injury in the next 24 to 48 hours. It’s difficult to assess his condition, while we were in the match,” Peseiro said in a post-match conference.

“But I am hoping that he will be fit for the next match… I want him to play. And the players want him to play.”
