National Chairman of the Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Ikammatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has admonished Nigerians to always stick to the teaching of Islam that peaches peace and harmony.
Sheikh Jingir made the call at the closing event of the 27th JIBWIS annual national Qur’an recitation competition, while responding to questions from journalists on the recent killings in Plateau state, saying all must strive to live in peace.
“My appeal is that we should adhere to the teachings of the Qur’an to live in peace, respect each other’s rights without thinking about differences on the basis of religion, tribe or place of living.
“Our politicians should also be just to all; use state resources in the right way and not to siphon them and cause crises amongst the people,” Sheikh Jingir said.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to resist any foreign temptation, pressure or demand to introduce gay or lesbianism into Nigeria’s law.
“I have heard that they are trying to bring the issue of gay marriage into our country, it will bring calamities to our country. I commend President Bola Ahmad Tinubu, for rejecting same sex marriage, that is why we support Muslim-Muslim,” he said.
The cleric also said politicians should fear Allah, as they go about the politicking and even at the helm of Governance.
He said politics is part and parcel of the life of every Muslim, which must be done in accordance with the teaching and doctrine of Islam.
The 27 annual national Qur’an recitation competition, organised by JIBWIS, had
138 participants drawn from 26 states as well as Niger and Ghana republics, respectively.
