Undeclared results: Verify Card Reader use, IPAC enjoins INEC

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Plateau state has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to apply the use of Card Readers in determining unresolved issues in declaring the results of some senatorial and House of Representatives seats in the state.

The council’s secretary, Abuabkar Dogara, made the call in a statement issued in Jos on Thursday.

IPAC said since the issues in contention for the Northern Senatorial seat and that of Bassa / Jos North Federal Constituency, were that of non-submission of forms EC 8 A, which is the original unit results of the electoral ward in reference, card readers should be used to verify.

He said: “It is necessary for the electoral umpire to deploy the method of verifying the results in contention by referring back to the voters captured in the card reader.”

According to IPAC, delaying actions on the issues amount to brewing high tension among the electorates.

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, had on Tuesday said that the election of the Southern Senatorial District of the State was inconclusive, while the results of Northern Senatorial District and that of the Bass / Jos North Federal Constituency, were not declared.
