Top Kaduna PDP member defects to APC

Prominent member of ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna state, Hon. Ishaku Shekarau, has defected to All Progressive Congress (APC).
Shekaru, a former Executive Director of Maritime Safety and Shipping Development of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), formally decamped in his home town, Mabushi in Zangon Kataf local government.

Shekarau, who hailed from same local government with Minister of Environment, Mrs. Laurentia Laraba Mallam, according to a source, defected after several moves by the PDP big wigs failed to make him reconsider his decision to quit.
The source further said that all appeals to the PDP leadership to champion sincere reconciliation and create sense of belonging had failed, hence his decision to formally quite.

The PDP is yet to react on the defection of Shekarau, who had been active in championing its cause in Southern Kaduna.
In another development, the APC yesterday extended its sympathies to the communities in Kaura local government area, who were object of the latest wave of killings that was visited on the people of Southern Kaduna.

In a statement issued by its chairman, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, it sai: “We are particularly shocked by the latest killings of villagers by unknown persons in such numbers and in a manner that ought to generate outrage in the entire state and the nation.”
