Supplementary elections: INEC has proven its worth – Effiong Akwa

The former Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Effiong Okon Akwa has applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC over the conduct of the last Saturday’s supplementary elections across the country.

Speaking with Blueprint correspondent last Saturday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, Effiong Akwa noted that though the turnout was low as compared to the main elections, the processes were apt and commendable, describing it peaceful.

In his words, “The supplementary elections were peaceful. Though the turnout was low as compared to the main one because so many of the voters have either returned to their place of residence or may have gone to the farm, market or any other engagement, which made them to boycott the election. But apart from that, the elections were peaceful and were conducted in a democratic manner,” he said.
