Sani, Nadada advocate youth empowerment in North 

The former secretary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Elder Anthony Sani, has called for unity and proactive measures from the political class to tackle social vices among the youth in the society.

Elder Sani spoke during a summit on youth empowerment which was part of the annual Nzeh Mada Cultural Festival held at Garaku, in Kokona local government area of Nasarawa state Saturday. 

 He said for politicians to tackle child labour, early marriage, and poverty, particularly in the northern region, emphasis must be placed on unity, skill acquisition and youth empowerment.

Elder Sani stated : “We must prioritise the well-being and development of vulnerable populations, especially children and young girls.”

In his speech, the Nasarawa state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shehu Nadada, highlighted the crucial role of youth in maintaining peace. He urged them to shun drug abuse and resist manipulation to cause unrest.

He said: “Empowering young people is the key to fostering a safer and more inclusive environment.”

In a paper presentation, a senior lecturer at Nasarawa state University, Keffi, Dr. Vincent Paul, said the importance of entrepreneurship and skill acquisition in curbing poverty cannot be over emphasised.
