Sallah: Foundation distributes clothing materials to elderly women in Nasarawa

The Aliyu Bello Educational Foundation, Monday, distributed clothes and cash gifts to 110 vulnerable elderly women and orphans to help them celebrate the Eid el-fitr with other Muslim faithful.

Distributing the materials in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital foundation chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Bello, said the gesture was to make the women, orphans feel loved like other people in the society.

He said clothing is one of the basic human needs, hence giving it out to the orphans was important, adding, “this will put smile on their faces of those who might not have the means to provide for their families especially during the festivity.”

Speaking, special assistant to the foundation chairman, Alhaji Elele Mohammed Gayam, explained that the foundation has been supporting the less privileged in the state for 12 years.

He revealed that some other beneficiaries were provided with financial support since the beginning of the Ramadan.

“90 percent of the beneficiaries the foundation chairman didn’t know them at all. They were drawn from various places irrespective of tribe or party affiliation, aimed at putting smiles on their faces,” he said.

He said the foundation has taken a step further to address the numerous challenges facing widows and the vulnerable.
