Retrenched Kaduna workers demand salaries

Retrenched local government workers in Kaduna state yesterday invaded Sigma and Leadway Pension companies in Zaria to demand for payment of their entitlements.
He aggrieved disengaged workers who were compulsorily retired by the state government invaded the company’s offices in Zaria.
The invasion was said to have negatively affected production negatively for the day.
Addressing the coordinators of the companies, spokesman of the laid off workers, Mallam Salisu Ibrahim, said that they were at officesof the companies for payment of their entitlements since Governor Nasir Ahmed ElRufa’i had repeatedly announced that he has paidbenefits of all the disengaged workers in the state.
Mallam Ibrahim explained that the companies must pay them since they couldn’t come out to make counter announcement that the state didn’t give them anything as entitlements.
He complained that the retrenched workers were suffering since their disengagement, adding that they had nothing to feed their families.
Responding, the coordinator of Sigma pension, Mallam Abbass Sama’ila said the company doesn’t have business with the state governor.
Rather, he said, they deal with the state Pension Bureau and up till now, the agency didn’t send them anything as their (disengaged workers) benefit.
However, an official of Sigma in charge of the state advised the aggrieved laid off workers to meet either Accountant General or Commissioner of Finance of the state for further enquiry
