A former member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Yusuf Shittu Galambi, has advised members of the House of Representatives and the general public not to be deterred by the “accusations and noise of character assassination of Hon. Abdulmumin Jibril on the role of Speaker Yakubu Dogara and other Principal Officers of the House allegedly accused of budget padding and other matters of the activities.”
Galambi, who gave the advice on Tuesday at a press briefing in Abuja, said “from the word Go, Jibrin is more like an entertainer who does not appreciate or recognise respect and authority in any issue that is not going according to his way or choice.”
“One will wonder why Jibrin is engaging and encouraging on media to create confusing views of destroying the institution of the National Assembly with allegations and accusations that are just fictitious for his interest,” he said.
He described Jibrin’s outburst on the 100 days of alleged budget padding as “unwarranted and lacks established evidence” that could make the security agencies of the country to constitute panel of investigation against the personalities of the Speaker and other principal officers of the National Assembly, as demanded.”
“It is unethical of him who openly admitted signing up for the budget and confess to the crime to now turn around and asked SSS and EFCC to investigate Speaker Dogara or any of the members of the National Assembly on issue with the same matter.
“It was Abdulmumin Jibrin who openly confessed to the world on the issue and budget padding, he’s responsible to any alteration on the document being the chairman of the appropriation committee neither Hon. Speaker Dogara nor any of the principal leaders of the house. Therefore, why turning back to be playing characters in the matter.”
Galambi, who represented Gwaram federal constituency of Jigawa state, and a former vice-chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Downstream, further berated Jibrin as “a person who wants to destroy his farm after failing to harvest produce in order to create sympathy and support from others.”
