Police launches operation Puff Adder in Borno

The Borno state Police command has launched Operation Puff Adder against terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, homicides, crimes and criminality among others Monday in Maiduguri.

The state commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu said the operation is specifically designed by the Inspector General of Police (IGPP) Mohammed Abubakar Adamu to rid the country of  violent crimes.

CP Aliyu further explained that the operation was part of deliberate measures adopted by the NPF aimed at curbing the excess of criminal elements hell- belt on threatening internal security across some states if the federation.

He noted that the operation is in addition to the combined operational assets from the various security agencies which is tailored towards ridding the country of all forms of crimes and criminalities.

The CP called for the support and cooperation of the community leaders and staekhokders, the civil polulace, particularly , traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths associations, market bodies, cultural associations and professionals among others in the fight against crimes , especially, kidnapping, armed robbery , cattle rustling amongst others.

“The operation was also based on the principle of community policing, intelligence-led policing and synergy with other security agencies.

 It will be characterised with convoy and mobilised patrols, stop and check operations, raiding of criminal hideouts or identified black spots,” he said.
