Police arrest 5 for robbery, stabbing victim with scissors

The FCT Police Command has arrested five for robbery and stabbing of a victim with scissors around the Wuse II area of Abuja.

A press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the FCT, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, in Abuja said: “In line with the commitment of the FCT Police Command to protect lives and property in the territory police operatives from Wuse Division on patrol along Wuse II, by former Amingo supermarket, arrested one Danlami Mohammed, 20, of no fixed address, while trying to escape after robbing and stabbing his victim on the neck with a pair of scissors.

“The police operatives promptly rushed the injured victim to a nearby hospital where he was given necessary medical attention and admitted.”

He said the suspect, who was arrested on January 26, 2020, had given further information that led to the arrest of his cohorts who also lurk around the area to attack their victims. The spokesperson listed the suspects to include:  Ismaila Ahmed, 17; Aliyu Yakubu, 20; and Abdulrahman Mohammed, 19 years.

The exhibits recovered from the suspects, he said, inlcude: a pair of scissors, three bottles of codeine syrup, a bunch of keys and one wrap of substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

Meanwhile, on January 24, 2020 at 14:00hrs following an alarm raised by a victim, one Nura Dahiru, 20, was arrested by police operatives from Wuse Division for stealing a phone from a worshipper at the National Mosque.

The spokesperson, who disclosed that three phones were recovered from the suspect as exhibits, said the suspects would be arraigned upon the conclusion of the investigation.
