Plateau killings: Alia seeks unity of North-central states to end terrorism, Sule announces donation of N100m to victims’ families

Benue state governor, Hyacinth Alia, Tuesday, called on the people of Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue and Niger states to unite in the fight against terrorists disrupting the peace of the North-central states.

Governor Alia in a state statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary Tersoo Kula, after he visited the governor of Plateau state, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, stated that since unprovoked attacks on farming communities have become common in the four states, there was every need for a united strategy, and willpower to check the borders in order to end the killing of innocent people.

The governor, who sympathised with the governor of Plateau, and the entire people of the state, described the attackers as inhuman, noting that all hands must be on the deck to end the killings.

“Earlier, the chairman North-Central Governors’ Forum and governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, insisted that those who attack innocent people and kill indiscriminately are terrorists and must be treated as such.

He announced a donation of N100m from the four governors to the families and the affected communities.

Responding, the host governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, expressed appreciation to his brother governors for coming to commiserate with him.

He regretted that his colleagues’ visits to him were always to grief, a development he described as unfortunate, adding that he would like to see where the entire country would converge on the Plateau for celebrations and not mourning.
