Pandemonium as fire guts Anambra-owned radio, television stations

Mysterious fire has gutted a part of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), the state government owned radio and television stations in Awka.

Sources claimed that the fire started at about 1am on Monday October 31, 2022 from one of the buildings and container in the station and continued up to about six hours.

“It was at about seven in the morning of Monday that the state fire service were able to contain it. But no live or valuable was lost, except the empty container that was damaged. We cannot tell what caused it,” a staff of the establishment told Blueprint.

The Managing Director of ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, while reacting to the fire incident, expressed shock over the development but praised God that no life was affected.

The Anambra State commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, who visited the scene of the incident also commended the state fire service for their prompt response to the incident.
