On the coming elections

During my industrial training programme at the Bureau of Public Enterprises in Maitama, Abuja, after graduating from Kaduna Polytechnic, this happened:

I was posted to the Public Communications Unit where all media issues are handled.

Senate committee on power came for a meeting and the head of the unit selected me to attend the meeting with him and write a press release.

I was very happy the my boss found me worthy or good enough to assign me for a task like that.

Therefore, a serving corps member, who has been posted to the same unit for her service before I came in as an in training student, was not happy.

I heard her said rhetorically: Why picking an ordinary polytechnic student who came in a month ago to attend meeting and write a press release?

Kindly note, I came in a month ago but I was having more than five publications in different newspapers, to project the image of the agency in question. The person complaining did not even know how to write a publishable article.

In this coming general elections, vote someone not because he has been there before others, but because he can do what others cannot do and can also do what orders don’t know how to do.
