NYCN, CBN to empower 35m youth in agriculture

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has revealed that it is collaborating with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in order to empower 35 million youths across the country in Agriculture.
The Council’s National president, Comrade Muhammed Garba while addressing press on his programme for the youth said his administration is collaborating with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on how empowering 35 million youth in agriculture across the country.
“We have collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) where are looking at empowering 35 million youth across the country. We have been meeting with the governors and we are already receiving assurance that they would support us. With CBN, we are already 40% through with the necessary arrangement.

“We have our skill acquisition centre her in Abuja  and all the geo-political zones where youth are being trained. We don’t recognise ethnicity, religion or regional bias because Nigeria belongs to all; we are united for the development of the youth. We are out to make youth self reliance, youth should not be seen as liability. With the support of the present administration, we are collaborating with all the state governments and the local government on empowering youth in agriculture to make them self employed. We know that no government can employ the whole youth that is why we are emphasising their engagement in agriculture,” he said
He said the time members of the council are being refer to as jobless individual is over, saying his administration is working to ensure that all youth are engaged.
“We have been reaching out to youth in the 36 states of the federation including the FCT. We are also carrying the young women along in skill acquisition training because some of them are into tailoring, hair dressing, baking among other things,” he said.
