Over 12,000 security personnel deployed for Oyo LG polls

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo state, CP Adebola Hamzat, on Friday hinted that over 12,000 combined security personnel have been deployed to the 33 local governments in the state for the election.

CP Hamzat dropped this hint in Ibadan at a joint press briefing by the Police, other Sister agencies, OYSIEC as well as other relevant stakeholders at the State Police Command, Eleyele, Ibadan.

He said the over 12,000 combine security personnel are to fortify operations in all the 33 local government areas during and after the conduct of the Saturday polls in the state.

The police boss noted that of the security agents included 8,000 from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), 2,125 from sister agencies while remaining are from other agencies excluding the military.

Promising to lead the security monitoring team to some parts of the state on Saturday, CP Hamzat assured the residents of their safety during and after the conduct of the election.

He pointed out that necessary security measures have been put in place to ensure a hitch free election and that there would be restriction of vehicular movement till the 18;00 hours during which the voting exercise would last.
