Nigerian star hailed as one of EPL’s best

Leicester star has been hailed as one of the best holding midfielders in the English Premier League.

Leicester City has enjoyed good form in the English Premier league, becoming one of the stand-out performers of the season. They currently trail leaders Liverpool by 8 points after 14 rounds of matches played, but one player has been singled out for praise. Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi has received widespread praise from pundits and players from across the football world, but it is his teammate James Maddison who made the boldest remark yet.

“I think he’s the best in the Premier League at tackling and winning the ball back and taking the ball off the opposition. I don’t think there’s anyone better than Wilfred.”

It will be remembered that Ndidi was previously used as N’Golo Kante’s backup before the French midfielder left for Chelsea after the wonder season when Leicester City secured the championship.

“I know N’Golo Kante is a brilliant player and there are players like that. But actually winning the ball back and taking the ball off the opposition, I don’t think there is anyone better than Wilfred. Sometimes you get a player like that and what he does doesn’t get on the back page of the papers, doesn’t get talked about on Match of the Day. He’s fantastic at what he does and he lets players like me and Youri Tielemans do our thing higher up.” Maddison summed it up.

Leicester square up against Watford at the King Power on Wednesday, and you can bet on all the Premier League action with Betway Nigeria for a chance to win good money. Ndidi will again be tasked with stopping any moves from a battling Watford who will be without a manager after the sacking of Flores Sanchez.

A win will see Leicester topple Manchester City into second place after the defending champions thrashed Burnley 4 – 1 at Turf Moor on Tuesday, to temporarily hold the second position on goal difference. Brendan Rodgers’ side is currently on their longest winning streak of seven matches since their last defeat in the hands of Liverpool in October, and given the form of their players, Watford does not look to present any real challenge.

Jamie Vardy is leading the EPL scoring charts with 13 goals in 14 appearances, but it is the contribution of midfielders James Maddison, Wilfred Ndidi, and Tielemans that has been eye-catching. After losing Danny Drinkwater, arguably their best player two seasons ago, Leicester have regrouped and even the loss of influential Harry Maguire has not been a hindrance. Players look hungrier, and everyone has stepped up. It is still a long season to go, but everything looks positive for the former EPL champions. Provided they can keep the likes of Ndidi fit, we could be witnessing another amazing run from Brendan Rodgers and his troop.

Remember, you can bet on Wednesday’s matches with Betway. Leicester will be hoping Liverpool will slip in the hands of their Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield, but from the look of things, it is a big ask. The leaders are on a roll and Everton, on the other hand, are struggling.
