The former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Mines and Steel Development (MMSD), Mr Edet Sunday Akpan, has stated that “not too long from now Nigeria will become the greatest mining destination in the world.
Akpan, spoke at the handing over to a new permanent secretary, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade at the MMSD Headquarters in Abuja.
He said, since it’s a custom for someone to leave and another come in, he appealed to every member of staff to support the new permanent secretary. However, “as I leave, your prayers is very important”
The new permanent secretary, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, thanked the members of staff for the warm reception and making her feel comfortable.
“our work is cut out for us. The mandate is very clear. The work bon us is daunting but the foundation has been laid” by the current and past leadership. “All that is left bis to build on this foundation. With this team, we can make it happen.”
She therefore solicited for the staff support just like they cooperated with the outgoing permanent secretary.
