My AFCON goal against Cameroon was special – Lookman

Ademola Lookman has reflected on his impressive performance for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The AFCON was a very important tournament for Lookman to make a good impression as the Super Eagles made it all the way to the championship game.

Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman was Nigeria’s joint-top scorer along with AFCON MVP William Ekong.

Lookman was in fine form at the tournament, netting three times for the Super Eagles and even creating numerous chances including Nigeria’s first goal in Cote d’Ivoire.

My favourite goal was the second goal against Cameroon, it gave me goose bumps, my parents were watching on,” the winger said in an interview with Calister Enejele.

Lookman also explained how it felt to be Nigeria’s joint-top scorer in his first-ever AFCON tournament.

Very happy, obviously as an attacking player, we always want to help the team by doing that and the team was amazing, everyone helped out,” he said.

“It was amazing, first tournament with the team, it was something I really, really enjoyed.”

The 26-year old fleet-footed attacker is currently on the verge of lifting the Europa League with his Serie A side as he continues in his blistering form.
