Niger: Bago creates 8 new ministries, posts 40 perm secs 

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger state has created eight new ministries and approved the posting of 40 permanent secretaries in the transformation agenda of the administration.

In a statement from the office of the state Head of Service ( HOS),  Abubakar Yahaya Salisu, dated 17/7/2023, the governor also approved the appointments of five new permanent secretaries.

The new ministries, according to the release, include the Ministry of Secondary and Tertiary Health, Ministry of Communication Technology and Digital Economy,  Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and Ministry of Homeland Security.

Others are Ministry of Power & Renewable Energy, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs & Disaster Management and Ministry of Housing & Urban Renewal.

Also the newly appointed permanent secretaries are Umar Zukogi posted to Ministry of Housing and Rural Development, Aishatu Yelwa Nuhu – Information and Strategy,  Dr Matthew Ahmed – Livestock and fishery,  Barrister Mairo Mann- Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management while former Commissioner of Health,  Dr Mohammed Makusidi returned to civil service as Permanent Secretary,  Special Duties in the office of the Secretary to the State Government.
