NGO urges plateau youth to track budget

A non-governmental organization, the Connected Development (CODE), has urged youths in Plateau state to always track government spending as budgeted on projects, by the state executive.

 CODE, whose mission is to improve access to information and empower local communities in Africa, made the call during through its manager, community engagement, Mr Busayo Morakinyo, during one-day training on data collection, on monitoring and evaluation on education/health for secretaries of local government areas of the state held at Jos Business School.

He said it became imperative and necessary for the Plateau youth to join Follow the Money initiative of the organization in order to track government and international aid spending in rural communities so as to ensure and promote open government and service delivery.

Mr Morakinyo said, “We connect citizens to capital projects in their communities and link them up with key government and private sector stakeholders who implement these projects, for enhanced service delivery. Such projects cut across the sectors of health, education and environment, specifically water, sanitation and hygiene.”
