Governorship aspirant vows to develop Kogi through agriculture

A front line governorship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state , Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris has assured the people of the state that agriculture would be one of his major area of concentration to create jobs, generate income and to produce food for the citizenry.

The aspirant who stated this on Thursday during the 2019 Media Parley organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kogi state Council for all aspirants vying for the governorship position come November 2 , said Kogi has abundant arable land that when cultivated and applied modern agricultural technology is capable of generating enormous jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in the state .

He said: “Governing Kogi state is about bring the people together to take the advantage of potentials in agriculture to move the state to the next level of development.

“Cashew nuts which are very common in Kogi East can generate several billions of naira to the state. It can be processed in the state to add value chain.

“We have Omi, Osara and Ekuku dams in the state if well utilised can boost food production to make the state the food basket of the nation”

Abubakar who is the son of the former governor of the state Alhaji Ibrahim Idris said he has all it takes to govern the state.
