Nasarawa: Traders, marketers elect new leaders

The Nasarawa state Traders and Marketers Association Saturday, elected its new Executive members to pilot it affairs for the next four years.

Declaring the result on Saturday, in Lafia, chairman electoral committee and national assistant secretary Arewa traders union Ishaq  Baba, said Aliyu Musa Turaki emerged as the new President, Bala Maiwakw vice president 1, Ali Ibrahim Vice President 2, Balarabe O. Mohammed as Secretary General.

Others are Hassana Sunda Assistant secretary general, Abubakar Ode Treasure, Asabe Castro Financial secretary, Musa Salihu Organizing secretary,  Shalelu Yahaya Assistant organising secretary, Ibrahim Yusuf PRO 1, and Yusuf Oga PRO 2, Ibrahim Yusuf Auditor 1 

He explained that all the positions contested were unopposed except that of the financial secretary which Asabe Castro emerged victorious to defeat her rival Ibrahim Abdullahi with 59 votes.

He advised them to be fair and just to the members and go along with the government of the day.

The newly elected President who spoke through the chairman Central Working Committee, Aminu Iliyasu, thanked members for giving him the mandate, with a promised to protect the welfare, rights and privileges of all members.

He said the oath of office would be taken in due course because the President is currently in Saudi Abrabia to perform the 2023 Hajj.
