Nasarawa government disowns Fulani vigilance group

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has distanced the state government from the Fulani vigilance group recently constituted in the state.

The governor made this known, Monday, while playing host to members of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly, led by the speaker, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, to congratulate him over the Supreme Court victory.

He said the state government did not recognize the Fulani vigilance group just like any other vigilance groups in the state.

The governor explained that if it was from the government, a bill to that effect would have been sent to the state assembly for consideration.

Sule further explained that his administration would continue to promote peace in the state as security agencies were already investigating the issue of the Fulani vigilante.

“We have not recognized any one. As far as we are concerned, there is only one vigilante group recognized by the Federal Government which we also recognized in the state,” he said.

According to him, “I am number one peace promoter and I will never encourage insecurity in the state.”

He appreciated the speaker for being up and doing in uniting members of the House as well as preaching unity and peace among communities across the state.

Earlier, Speaker Danladi Jatau had said they were in the Government House to congratulate the governor on his Supreme Court victory.

The speaker assured of the lawmakers’ readiness under his leadership to effectively synergise with the governor for the overall development of the state.
