Acting Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Alhaji Ibrahim Mammaga, has commended Nasarawa state government for renovating the NAN temporary office in Lafia, the state capital.
Mammaga made the commendation Wednesday during his official visit to Lafia.
He expressed delight that the agency’s staff working in the state received the state government’s support to enable them to discharge their responsibilities.
“We thank the state government for the support it has been giving to our office in Lafia. We want the present government to help us develop the piece of land donated to us by the previous government.
“We cannot continue to operate from a rented building and we thank God that we also have a board member of NAN from the state,” he said.
The acting managing director assured the state government of adequate publicity for its activities.
“We will work and collaborate with the state government to publicise its activities so as to develop the state and the country,” he said.
Governor Abdullahi Sule’s director-general, Strategy, Communication and Press Affairs, Mr Yakubu Lamai, pledged to synergise with the agency in the overall interest of the state and the country.
Earlier, NAN state correspondent, Alhaji Mohammed Bababusu, thanked the acting managing director for the management’s visit.
He also lauded the state government’s immense support toward the sustenance of the agency’s office and its renovation, which he said, made the office conducive for the personnel to discharge their editorial responsibilities.
Bababusu appealed to the management of the agency to ensure the sustenance of the temporary office until NAN relocated to its permanent site in the state.
NAN head of newsroom, Mr Ephraim Sheyin, and head of administration, Malam Abdulhadi Khaliel, were part of the acting managing director’s entourage.
