LNSA, LASTMA make my job easier – Police commissioner

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos state, CP Idowu Owohunwa, on Friday said the establishment of LASTMA and LNSA had made his security jobs 80 per cent achieved.

Owohunwa said this when he paid official visits to the Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) and Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) at their Oshodi Headquarters.

At LNSA, the police boss was received by the General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Ifalade Oyekan and his management team.

Owohunwa commended the state government for establishing the agency, stressing that such act was the commitment by the government for a better security in Lagos.

He said his visit was not an accident, but was deliberate as the structure needed to succeed as police command was already on ground.

“I have come to seek your continuous synergy and to tell you in clear terms that I want to encourage you to build this synergy with us so that we can present a common front to fight a common enemy, the criminals.

“We should not work at cross purposes. That will not be to the advantage of Lagos residents and the government that are funding our activities.

“I can testify that to the high value of the pieces of intelligence reports you generated, they are not just credible, they are actionable.”

Earlier, the LNSA general manager commended the CP for the visit, saying that he was the first police commissioner to visit the agency.

Oyekan said the agency will be willing to synergise with the police in operations and was learning many things from them.

At LASTMA, the CP was received by the General Manager, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, and his management team.

Owohunwa said the importance of LASTMA “cannot be over- emphasised as it is strategic,” and highlighted the confusion that would happen if LASTMA and police traffic officers were to be withdrawn from the roads.

He said he was at the agency to seek more collaboration and commended them for their professionalism, assuring them of structure that would be a bridge for both agencies.

In his remarks, Oreagba commended the CP for his support since assumption of office, assuring him that the agency would “always work with the police.”
