Wase not a religious fanatic, group tells Sahara Reporters

A pro-Wase group has stated that the insinuation that portrayed the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmad Idris Wase, as religious fanatic was wrong.

The group, Exemplary Leadership, on Friday in a statement by its national coordinator, Hassan Isa Mainadara, described the report, published by Saraha Reporters, as “wishful falsehood.”

“The purported report is one of many other fake news from the stable of Saraha Reporters which is well known for its mischievous act that is bastardising the journalism profession in Nigeria.

Sahara Reporters’ failure to reveal its acclaimed sources that alleged that Wase is a religious fanatic, a bigot and ethnic chauvinist…, further exposes its unprofessional attitude of deliberate attempt at tarnishing the good reputation and image of Rt. Hon. Ahmad Idris Wase.

“We are very sure that the so-called member-elect, quoted by Sahara Reporters, if indeed he exists, has not known Hon. Wase to have accused him of dictatorial tendencies with a low tolerance for contrary views,” the group’s statement read in part.
