Kano state Commissioner for Health Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said the state has made considerable headway in containing the much dreaded Lassa fever epidemic.
He said Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration would not relent in its effort towards eradicating the menace .
Tsanyawa who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Binta Umar Bala, stated that the Ganduje administration would continue to collaborate with corporate organisations or individuals that are concerned about the well being of Kano citizens.
He said government has no limitations in working with nongovernmental organizations, groups or philanthropists that have the determination to complement government’s effort towards boosting the socio- economic well-being of the people.
The commissioner made the remark Wednesday while receiving a humanitarian gesture from a philanthropist, Malan Hassan Hajaik, a Kano based business tycoon , as part of his contribution to the development of the state, especially in the fight against Lassa fever.
He expressed appreciation for the kind gesture and pledged to judiciously utilise the commodities for the purpose it was given. He urged other wealthy individuals in the society, private firms and nongovernmental organizations to emulate the shinning gesture of Hajaik in this direction.
Some of the commodities donated to the state were , soap, face mask, sponge, hand gloves, safety boots, hugmenting syrup, hand sanitizer among others.
Earlier, in his remark Hajaik said the gesture was in consideration of the state government commitment to curb the deadly menace within a short period of time.
