Lafia emirate council honours TY Danjuma, wife

Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Mustapha Isah-Agwai 1, at the weekend honoured Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd) and his wife, Senator Daisy Danjuma, with traditional titles.
Danjuma was honoured with the title of Barde Babba Lafia (war commander of Lafia), while his wife was honoured with the title of Aminiya Lafia (trusted wife of Lafia).

Speaking after performing the ceremony at the 40th anniversary his throne in Lafia, the Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Mustapha Isah-Agwai 1, said the traditional institution honoured them due to their contributions to the development of the state and the country at large.
He said: “I am happy to day, this is my 40 years on throne as the Emir of Lafia; I thank God for his protection and guidance on my life and indeed on the people of Nasarawa state.
“The traditional council deems it necessary to honour Gen. Theophilus Yakubu- Danjuma, popularly called TY Danjuma, and his wife, Sen. Daisy Danjuma, who have contributed immensely to the development of our country.
“TY Danjuma has contributed immensely only to the development of Nasarawa Kingdom, but to the development of the state and country at large and indeed humanity.

“His foundation, TY Danjuma, has empowered many Nigerians positively, especially in the areas of education, health, commerce, youths and women empowerment programmes, and promotion of peaceful co-existence amongst others.”
The royal father said the emirate council would continue to recognise people that were involved in selfless service, adding that highly placed individuals should continue to bring development to the area.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Gen Danjuma, thanked God and the monarch for the honour and pledged to uphold the throne of the emirate kingdom for the overall development of the country.
He gave the assurance that he and his wife would live above board and continue to bring economic and social developments to the area and the country at large.
