Kyari’s death: Consider Bulama as new Chief of Staff, APC group urges Buhari

A pressure group in the All Progressive Congress (APC) known as Integrity Group (IG) has commiserated with President Muhammadu Buhari on the death of his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari.

The group has however said that the President in chosing a replacement for the Late Kyari should consider the party.

According to the group, whoever must be the Chief of Staff to the President must be somebody who has acceptability and good relationship with the leadership and members of the APC.

The group, which did not blame the distanced  posture of the President with leadership of APC on the late Abba Kyari said a good party man is needed to bridge that gap.

In a statement issued Monday in Abuja and signed by Mohammed Goni, National Coordinator and Peter Chekwa, National Secretary, the group said the Deputy Director General (Coordination) of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in the last election, Arc. Waziri Bulama, is eminently qualified for the position of the Chief of Staff to the President.

According to the group, “he is one party member and loyalist to President Buhari right from the CPC days. He will never rock the boat.

In the statement, the group said, “the President needs a dedicated and seasoned administrator to help him in the daily running  of his office.

“The President needs somebody who has the intelligence, who is humane and nationalistic, to help him coordinate his activities with the federal Executive Council, the Diplomatic Community, the leadership of the APC and entire Nigerian citizens.

“To be the Chief of Staff, must be a loyal person who has no political baggages or had betrayed principals in the past or some one not intoxicated by power.

“Arc. Waziri Bulama fits into the shoes of the CoS that the President needs at this point in time that there is high criticisms against the Presidency.”

They called on the leadership of the party, the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and the Office of the First Lady to see this opportunity and use it to bring the much needed exactitude  to the Presidency  and reduce the criticisms   it had attracted in the past.

The group presented Arc. Buluma as a professional of repute and a seasoned  administrator, policy-driven and who considers  for every shade of opinion and complaint but would be ready to do what would be acceptable to the majority.

It would be recalled that Arc. Bulama has been endorsed by majority of APC members to occupy the position of the APC National Secretary which has been vacant since March last year.

“The group said, “this is an opportunity to bring Arc. Bulama close to the party and governance in order to tap from his wealth of experience.”

Buluma was former member of the National Executive Committee of the one of the legacy parties of APC, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). His political legacies include governorship candidacy of CPC in Borno State in 2011 and Director of the Presidential Campaign Organization (PCO), strategy committee of the CPC in 2011.

He has over thirty years working experience in public service, business and politics. He is a member of several professional bodies.
