The Chairman of Kwali Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory [FCT], Hon. Danladi Bomboyei Chiya, has promised increased youth empowerment and rapid development of the area council during his second tenure in office.
Danladi Bomboyei Chiya said he used the first tenure to thoroughly understand the technicalities of government especially local administration and would put to effective practice and usefulness, the lessons leant from the first three years in office when given the opportunity to return for second tenure.
The chairman made the remarks in Kwali while delivering his acceptance speech soon after the All Progressives Congress delegates returned him unopposed as the party’s candidate for the 2022 FCT Area Council Chairmanship elections.
Chiya stated that the youths have always been the backbone of his administration since its inception in 2019 and promised to reward them for their unflinching support.
He received the entire 276 votes cast by the delegates with no void votes.
In a brief interview with journalists, the caretaker committee chairman of the APC in Kwali, Mallam Yahaya Aliyu Sheda, justified the confidence vote granted the chairman by affirming that Danladi worked well during the first tenure.
“People are surprised that a chairman has no rivals in our council primaries. This is because he has performed beyond people’s expectation. He brought in infrastructure, he has good human relations and he listens because he is a grassroots politician.
“In politics, if your adversaries do not criticise you, there are no problems. APC is well prepared to face the 2022 election as a ruling party. We are waiting for our opponents and I assure you as the party chairman that the APC will win the entire ten wards and form the next government in Kwali,” he assured.
