Kuchikawu institute tasks students on ICT

Management of Marvel Institute of Management and Technology (MIMTECH), Kuchikawu, in Karu local government area of neighbouring Nasarawa state, has said that the Institute was founded in 2011 to address the “yawning gap between the hopes and aspirations of students who need practical industrial knowledge to be employable and self-employed.”

Speaking exclusively to Blueprint, the MIMTECH registrar, Mr. Agbo Ogbeh, said the concept of the Institute “is that of an innovation, creativity and hands-on approach to skills acquisition of the highest quality with a view to improving the lives of aspiring youths and adults who are only not to make a living but also to contribute their quota to the growth of the nation by exploring their potentials through acquired skills and techniques.”
On the vision and mission of the school, Ogbeh said the “vision is to pioneer a technological tertiary institution that will produce well-trained and well-blended technicians and technologists, generally knowledgeable, practically skilled and dedicated to the ideas of economic development of Nigeria.”

He added that the mission had a cordial rapport with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) was to serve as Centre of Excellence in technological education “and to inculcate high standard of discipline, integrity and good conscience in technicians and technologists, exposing them to compulsory Microsoft certificate exams, Dubai CCNA, etc, expatriate corporate trainers thereby advancing technological development in Nigeria.”

According to him, “at the moment, the institute places much premium on information communication(ICT) technology, having secured accreditation to run courses in computer software engineering, computer hardware engineering, multi-media technology, networking and system security.”
The registrar advised students, especially those in the catchment area, to leverage on the opportunity, saying “ICT has become the trend in growing economies globally.”
