Kubwa general hospital cleared for medical internship training

Kubwa general hospital has been presented an approval for the training of Medical Internship by the Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria.
Secretary, FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat, Dr. Demola Onakomaiya, said the approval granted for medical internship training in Kubwa general hospital will further help to improve in providing qualitative healthcare delivery and also improve capacity for house training of staff.
Dr. Onakomaiya said this when the official of the Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria visited him in his office and presented an approval for the training of Medical Internship in Kubwa General Hospital.

He said FCT hospitals have witnessed a radical change in the last three years of this Administration under the leadership of Senator Bala Mohammed.
Dr. Demola said also that the Health & Human Service has concluded arrangement to commission multi drug resistance laboratory, stand alone pharmacy, intensive care unit and provision of bed space for admission of psychiatric patients as well as introduction of wellness clinic all in the general hospital.

Dr. Onakomaiya also said in an effort to provide qualitative health care delivery  and to further decongest the hospitals, FCT administration recently approved  the employment of 200 health workers that are now rendering services in 12 general and district hospitals of the FCT.
Speaking earlier, Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr. Abdulmumini A. Ibrahim, said the approval came as the result of the report by the eight members visitation on the 9th April, 2014 for the purpose of assessing the staff and facilities on ground with the view to accrediting the hospital for the training of medical internship.
He said the hospital is further granted a training quote of twenty four house officers while assuring the management of council’s continuous support.
