Kaduna APC chair declares Shehu Sani’s suspension unconstitutional

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kaduna state chapter, Mr.
Emmanuel Jakada, has declared the suspension of Senator Shehu Sani as unconstitutional.
Jakada, who stated that a reconciliation committee has been set up to address members grievances and further unify the party members, noted that a serving senator cannot be suspended on the pages of newspapers as there are processes to follow to achieve such.
Sen.
Sani representing Kaduna Central Zone, was suspended for 11 months by the party in December 2016 for anti-party activities, he was later suspended indefinitely.
Just as a recent statement signed by the chairman of ward 6, Tudun Wada North chapter of APC, Ibrahim Salisu Togo, who reaffirmed that their decision to suspend Senator Shehu Sani was based on the constitution of the party.
“We, the Tudun Wada north, ward 6 exco of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna South local government wish to affirm our decision on the indefinite suspension of Sen. Shehu Sani,” he said.
However, the state APC chairman, speaking in a phone conversation said, “I am not around, I came for a programme in Jos.
Look, suspension does not emanate from the pages of newspapers.
“However, at the local government, there must be a committee to find out the allegations.
There are a lot of constitutional processes to be followed before you can pronounce somebody suspended.
“As the party chairman, I have set up committee to reconcile the aggrieved members so I expected that if there was any issue with any of the aggrieved member it is supposed to be directed to the reconciliation committee.
“I’m so surprised that I am hearing this from you people, I have not seen anything like that on my table.
I don’t believe that the right thing according to the constitution has been done,” Jakada added.
