President Muhammadu Buhari has taken measures to tighten security around Nigerian borders with its neighbours to allow only people with genuine intentions enter the country, while stopping people with impure intentions from entering the country to carry out nefarious activities against Nigerians.
This is just as Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state at the weekend met with his counterparts from Katsina, Zamfara, Niger and Kebbi states in Kaduna to address and find lasting solution to the incessant attacks and killings of residents of the state, especially in Giwa and Birnin Gwari local government area, which borders forest reserves that are contagious with the four other states.
Addressing a maiden town hall meeting with residents at the weekend, Governor El-Rufa’i said his administration is doing everything possible to put end to killings and gunmen attacks in Birnin Gwari, Giwa and Southern Kaduna.
He said: “There is interstate cooperation, Kaduna state is working with Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi and Niger states to design a collective approach to common security challenges in the forest ranges that strides our respective states.

A meeting is being held today with the respective state governors and security agencies to advance the implementation of this initiative.”
El-Rufa’i, who has met with President Buhari thrice on the insecurity ravaging Kaduna and parts of the country, told residents that “Kaduna state has briefed and updated the president on the security challenges, and the president has pledged federal government support for the comprehensive security plan.”
“We have conducted multiple aerial surveys of the Birnin-Gwari area and have visited affected communities there and in Southern Kaduna, offering medical assistance and condolences,” El-Rufai added before leaving for the governors’ meeting.
