Guards Brigade trains personnel on post retirement life

The Guard Brigade on the Nigerian Army (NA)   in Abuja is widening its scope by organising a training for its personnel on life after retirement.
Speaking at the Guards Brigade Finance Training Day in Abuja, the Chief of Army Accounts and Budget Brigadier General  Adeyemi Adetayo said the training will go a long way in enhancing competence and knowledge for and optima performance.

Adetayo said the job of soldiering demand absolute commitment and thereby leaving personnel with little or no time to be involved in personal businesses.
“Therefore personnel find it difficult to be engaged in any personal business and it is imperative that there should be adequate training before retirement.

It is only reasonable that the Nigerian Army Finance Corps takes the lead in educating troops of the NA on post retirement life. I am therefore glad be here for this training day to ensure we get things right,” he said.
In his opening remarks, the Commander, Guards Brigade, Brigadier General  Anthony Omozoje said the training was one of the series of training activities to be carried out in implementing the brigade training directive for 2015.
Omozojie said the finance training day is  to enlighten the personnel on important aspects of their lives which hitherto had received less attention due to their training, discipline and commitments as military personnel.
He said the theme for the training which is ` The Challenges of Nigerian Army Personnel starting Business on Retirement: Role of Nigerian Army Finance Corps was carefully selected.

`This designed to proffer solutions to the present challenges the NA personnel that choose to start their own business on retirement or go into partnership with others. Although we are not allow to get involved in business while still in service by our Terms and Conditions of Service, today’s training will improve our perspective to life.
“It will also avail personnel of Gds Bde and by extension the NA, the opportunity of knowing the secret of health living. And also open us up to identify opportunities, manage and deploy our limited resources when we eventually disengage from service, ‘’ he said.
The Guest lecturer, Pastor Folami Fawehinmi in his lecture titled` Business Success-Secret that Stands the Test of Time said the everyone has what it takes to engage in business adding that what is important was the mindset.`

Fawehinmi urged the officers and soldiers to find time out of their busy schedule to examine e their gift and what they would want to do after retirement.
He said `everything the personnel want to engage in after retirement was possible if they have a positive attitude towards that.
One of the participants Lt-Col Edward Koleso said the trying was coming at the appropriate time as it will enable the officers plan before retirement.
