Insecurity: Abaji council chair warns monarchs against strangers

Worried by the current crises in Nasarawa and Benue states, the Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Yahaya Garba Gawu, has warned traditional rulers in the Council to avoid “hosting strangers in the Council anyhow.”

Speaking at an emergency meeting with community leaders yesterday in Yaba, Gawu, who was represented by the council’s supervisory councillor for works, Yusuf Saleh Ashafa, charged them to be on alert in their various communities to avoid letting in “strange people that will come in to foment trouble.”
He stressed that his administration would do everything possible to maintain peace and security in the Council with the aid of security operatives and the traditional rulers.

Responding, on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Etsu Yaba, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Saidu, said they were ready to cooperate with the government to improve peace and harmony in their various domains.
He warned other traditional rulers to avoid entertaining “anybody with suspicious characters in your domain, or report them to the relevant authority for investigation.”
