I have no issues with  EFCC – Former kwara commissioner

Immediate past Kwara state commissioner for works and transport, Engineer Rotimi Iliyasu has debunked rumours making the rounds in some sections of  the social media that he was recently invited  for questioning by the Economic and Financial  Crimes Commission (EFCC) .

He said he was never invited nor detained  by the EFCC or any antj- graft agency.

The former  commissioner also declared  that projects carried out by the state government under his watch , including the  ongoing  General Tunde Idiagbon  fly-over along University of Ilorin road, “passed integrity test by  the Cemtre for Regulation of Engineering  in Nigeria  (COREN) and  Nigerian Society  of Engineers (NSE)” .

Iliyasu  made the clarification when he featured  on Newskeg, a personality interview plafform of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kwara Council on Thursday.

He said an online reports insinuating  that he was invited and grilled by the EFCC over  financial misappropriation while in office,  was  the handi work of some members of the political class whom he held in high esteem but according him,   felt  threatened by his rising  political profile .

“I have never been invited or detained by the EFCC. I thank God for the state and governor I served, the governor is very prudent and diligent in awarding contracts.

“It’s all political, seems some people feel threatened by my popularity in my local government and senatorial district by extension and trying to look for a way to tarnish my good image.

“But, to me, It should not be all about pulling him down. Before now, I’ve resolved within me that I’ll not be a disappointment to my people, especially my generation as a youth.”

“All I want to do is to help my people in Moro local government as one of the greatest beneficiaries of this administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in the last four years, I only want to give back to my people,” he said.

Iliyasu  recalled that the only time he had anything to do wirh the EFCC was when  the anti-graft agency wrote his office for technical assistance of Engineers on some federal government projects in the state which his ministry obliged the agency.
