I aspire to be like Odion Ighalo – Marcus

The Old Trafford stadium in England  is famous worldwide as a theatre of dreams in football with many aspiring footballers dreaming of lacing their boot at the hallowed ground.

Back home in Nigeria, a lot of people admire a number of  footballers like  Ronaldo, Messi , Neymar, Aguerro to name a few, so much that they try to imitate their style of football and even adopt their names as aliases and many of the nation’s cities especially Kaduna have churned out prominent stars like Garba Lawal, Daniel Amokachi to mention a few.

One of such players, Samuel Marcus , a 19-year-old who plies his trade with Pepsi Academy  spends his time playing football with his friends  said he hopes to be the next big star to come out of Kaduna, just like his Super Eagles idol  Odion Ighalo who is dream of playing for United came to pass

Marcus told our correspondent that “I am a fan of Arsenal, so I will love to be part of Arsenal team because that is my dream club .

It happened to Ighalo  he is a fan of United and God has surely brought him up and to be a player of Man Utd, so I will love to be like that same person , I will love my star to shine like Ighalo so that I will just wake up one day and see myself in Arsenal shirt , I will be very happy and it will be dream come true”

The striker who is one of Kaduna hottest property named Alex Iwobi as his mentor.  “I love the way he plays , I love his confidence , at his age”, he said.  He equally admires Cristiano Ronaldo and Lewandowski as his role model because we play the same position, I aspire to be like them one day”, he said

Marcus who prefer to lace his boot for NNL side before signing for the likes of Wikki Tourists Fc, MFM or IfeanyiUbah in the NPFL was the highest goal scorer with 9 goals in the Kaduna United Traders Association competition  despite almost been screened  out of the competition.

The player who hail from Niger state but resides in Kaduna is quite optimistic that very soon his star will shine and become a household name in the nation’s soccer arena.
