Group endorses Abdulmalik Durunguwa for ministerial appointment

A northern socio-religious group, Northern Inter-religious/Inter-tribal Alliance for Peace, Unity and Development, had thrown their weight behind the timely aspiration of Dr. Abdulmalik Muhammed Durunguwa, a federal commissioner at National Population Commission, NPC, and, a one-time executive secretary of Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, to be appointed as replacement for the immediate-past governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

In a statement after its last quarterly meeting in Abuja yesterday, President of the group, Comrade Bitrus Akpa, called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Abdulmalik Muhammed Durunguwa, a doctor of Educational Management and Planning, as a suitable replacement of El-Rufai.

He said since El-Rufai in his wisdom honourable turned down his nomination as a minister in the under the Tinubu cabinet, there can be no suitable alternative for his replacement other than Dr  Durunguwa.

They, therefore, called on every Nigerian, irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliation, and especially the 19 northern states to lend their voices to the clarion call across Nigeria, to appeal to the APC government to appoint Dr. Durunguwa as a minister to replace El-Rufai.

They hinged their appeal on the fact that; Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone, where Dr. Durunguwa hails from, has not been fairly treated unlike other senatorial zones in Kaduna state.

The group implored Governor Uba Sani to recommend Dr. Durunguwa to the Presidency to be appointed as replacement for El-Rufai. They urged President Tinubu to do equity by appointing a Southern Kaduna Indigene, Durunguwa, as a replacement of El-Rufai.
