Failed brake : Truck kills 18-years-old boy in Kogi

An eighteen years old boy Thursday morning lost his life when a truck fully  loaded with petrol failed brake and fell down at Felele junction in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

Eye witness account said the accident occured around 7: 30am when people were struggling to board taxis that will convey them to their places of work.

It was gathered that the victim  of the unfortunate  accident whose mother fried beans cake (Akara) assisted his mother by taking the grinded beans and other materials to the junction ahead of the arrival of the mother to commence frying  when the truck failed brake and killed him on the spot.

The victim Rufai Usman was said to have just secured admission into a national diploma of Kogi State Polytechnic but yet to resume due to covid-19 pandemic that stalled  activities globally.

It was gathered that the victim’s  mother  age 41 years fainted when the news  of the sudden death of her son whom she had been struggling to train through education reached her.

One of the resident of felele community Mr Moses Ajayi lamented that the persistent accidents at Felele was becoming unbearable, appealing to the government to find a lasting solution.

“It is unfortunate that Felele has become a centre of motor accident where vibrant  people lost their lives . This year alone more than five major accident had occurred where many lives were lost.

” In fact if I have the means I will relocate from this area because this recurrent accident in this area is already fearful and worrisome.”
