Domestic equity market returns to bullish run, gains N29bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Exchange on Friday returned to a bullish run, appreciating by N29 billion as sell off in shares of Fidelity Bank, AccessCorp, FBNHoldings and others lifted the equity market.

Market capitalisation of listed equities appreciated by 0.10 per cent to close the day at N28.431 trillion from N28.402 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 53.38 basis points to 52214.62 points from 52161.24 points recorded the previous day.

Analysis of the investment during the day showed that

MRS Plc led gainers table in a percentage terms, appreciating by 9.93 per cent to close at N33.75 per unit, Academy Press followed with a gain of 9.87 per cent to close at N1.67 per share, Ikeja Hotel added 9.86 per cent to close at N1.56 per unit, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria increased by 9.75 per cent to close at N2.59 per unit, Ardova Plc up by 9.09 per cent to close at N26.40 per share.

On the contrary, C&I Leasing topped losers chart during the day, shedding 9.86 per cent to close at N3.20 per share, Prestige insurance trailed with a loss of 9.76 per cent to close at N0.37 per share, Royal Exchange down by 6.90 per cent to close at N0.54 per share, Courtvellle Business Solutions down by 6.52 per cent to N0.43 per unit, Live Stock Feeds fell by 6.42 per cent to close at N1.02 per share.

Volume of trades during the day rose by 939,629 million, representing an increase of 66.31 per cent as investors traded 1.417 billion shares valued at N10.980 billion in 5527 deals against 477.371 million shares cost N5.240 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 5539 deals.

Transactions in the shares of Fidelity Bank led activity chart with 942.268 million shares valued at N5.520 billion, AccessCorp followed with account of 170.030 million shares cost N1.693 billion, FBNHoldings traded 81.120 million shares valued at N973.359 million, Alex exchange 36.049 million shares valued at N234.321 million while Mansard insurance traded 24.604 million shares cost N60.900 million.
